How long it takes to remove leaked content

There is no fixed time. It depends on the site, on the host and on Google. This page gives realistic ranges, so you know what is normal and when to act again.

How fast do sites act on a DMCA notice?

The law does not set a number of days. It only says that a site must act quickly.

Type of siteUsual time
Large platforms and file hostsA few days
Leak sites with a working DMCA addressA few days to 2 weeks
Leak sites that ignore noticesOnly after escalation, often weeks
Sites that never complyNever. Google removal is the main tool.

A fast answer does not always mean a removal. Open the page again after each answer.

How long does escalation take?

Escalation means that you send your notice to the host or the registrar of the site. Give the site about one week first. A host often needs a few days to a week more. A registrar is slower, and many registrars do not act on copyright at all.

All together, a difficult site can take 3 to 6 weeks. Some take longer. See when a site will not remove your leaked content.

How long does Google take?

Google often answers a copyright notice within a few days. Some notices take 2 weeks or more. Google checks each page and each image address on its own, so one notice can come back partly approved.

After Google approves, the result usually leaves search within a few days.

Why can you still see the page in Google?

There are three common reasons:

  • Google did not visit the page again yet. A removed page can stay in search results for some days or weeks. Use the Refresh Outdated Content tool of Google to speed this up.
  • The thumbnail is stored by Google. Google Images keeps its own small copy of a picture. It can stay in view for a while after the page is gone.
  • Your browser shows an old version. Open the search in a private window to check.

Why does content come back?

A removal is for one page. When someone uploads the same content again, it is a new page and needs a new notice. Leak sites also have mirror sites with almost the same name. Search again every week or two, or use a service that searches for you.

How long does Unexpose take?

It depends on the site, so we do not promise a time. What we do:

  • Before we send your first notice, we check that you are the creator. We do this once.
  • We send the DMCA notice, then follow-ups. About one week after the first notice, we send it to the host. After about two weeks, we send it to the registrar.
  • We check the pages after each notice. When a page is gone, we mark it removed.
  • We ask Google to remove the results, and we show the Google line on each removal request.

You can see each step, with the date, on the page of the removal request. See removal requests and how we remove leaked OnlyFans content, remove leaked Fansly content, remove leaked Fanvue content and remove leaked Chaturbate recordings.
