Run Your First Content Scan

This tutorial walks you through running your first content scan with Unexpose.

Prerequisites

Before running a scan, make sure you have:

  • [ ] Verified your email address
  • [ ] Added at least one platform link
  • [ ] Added at least one stage name

Understanding Scans

Unexpose uses multiple methods to find your content:

  1. Image Similarity Search: AI-powered matching against our indexed database
  2. Text Search: Searching for your stage names across the web
  3. Face Recognition: (Fully Managed) Matching faces in images

Running a Manual Scan

Step 1: Access Dashboard

Log in to your account and go to your Dashboard.

Step 2: Initiate Scan

Click the Start Scan button on your dashboard. This queues a scan using every method you have configured.

Step 3: Wait for Results

Scans typically complete within a few minutes. You'll see:

  • A progress indicator while scanning
  • Notification when the scan completes
  • New match count on your dashboard

What Gets Scanned

During a scan, we search:

  • Images: Your uploaded images are compared against our index of millions of web images
  • Stage Names: We search Google, Bing, and our internal database for mentions of your names
  • Platform Links: We verify your platforms and search for related unauthorized content

After Your Scan

Once the scan completes:

  1. Review Matches: Go to the Matches page to see results
  2. Verify Accuracy: Check if matches are legitimate concerns
  3. Take Action: Mark matches for removal or ignore false positives

Automatic Scanning

PlanFrequency
FreeManual only (once per week)
StarterEvery 24 hours
ProfessionalEvery 12 hours
Fully ManagedEvery 6 hours

Paid plans include automatic scans at your plan's frequency. You'll receive email notifications when new matches are found.

Tips for Better Results

Add More Content

Every stage name you add is searched separately, and every image you add is compared against what we find. Adding more of both widens what a scan can reach.

Check Regularly

Even with automatic scans, check your dashboard weekly to review and act on matches.

Troubleshooting

"No matches found"

This could mean:

  • Your content hasn't been indexed yet (new scan)
  • Your content isn't appearing on indexed sites
  • Your whitelist is filtering legitimate matches

"Scan taking too long"

Large accounts with many images may take longer. If a scan exceeds 10 minutes, try:

  • Running a smaller batch
  • Contacting support
